Why am I having technical problems with surveys?
Much of our online content, especially the navigational menu system at the top
of every page and our frequent invitational surveys, are optimised to work in Internet
Explorer version 5.5 and above. If you are using an alternative or older versioned
browser then you may not be getting the most out of our web site.
The following could help you:
- Check your browser is configured properly - JavaScript and frames have to be enabled.
If in doubt you can reset all your settings to default (under tools -> options for
IE).
- Check you are using the latest and most correct copy of the files - holding down
control and pressing refresh will ensure that you are getting the files from our
source server rather than a potentially old version or corrupt version in the cache
(this can occur with JavaScript).
Other factors that might cause errors are:
- An intermittent break in your Internet connection
- Our server could be under heavy load and possibly times out
- Using the back and forward buttons on some surveys can cause some odd occurrences
In all of these cases just wait a while, try again in a fresh browser window and
cut and paste the entire link.
Change your browser - Internet Explorer 5.0 and above should work fine. If you're
using an old version of, or a non-Internet Explorer browser then it can occasionally
be a bit touch and go whether some links will work.
Why am I having problems using Hotmail?
If you have registered with us using a Hotmail address, you could experience
problems with the survey links that we send you. This is due to an incompatibility
problem between our survey software and the lovely Hotmail's mail system and although
we're working hard to get around this problem, it will be some time before we've
found a solution. In the meantime, we are keen to help you have a trouble-free experience
so we recommend one of the following 3 courses of action:
- Do you have an alternative email address that you can use? If so,
click here » to view your account details and simply change your @hotmail
address to your alternative. Or email us at info@opinionate.ca with your
new address and we'll make the change for you.
- You can cut and paste the link. In every survey invitation that we send you, we
include the link URL for the survey and all you need do is cut and paste this into
your browser window. But please be sure to paste the entire link into a new browser
window, outside of Hotmail, otherwise it will not work.
- Do you have Microsoft Outlook or Outlook Express set up on your computer? If so,
you can set up your Hotmail account to be viewed through either of these and then
the survey link will work perfectly. For Microsoft's instructions on how to do this
using Outlook Express click here ». Outlook users should click here »
Hopefully one of these methods should prove suitable for you but if you have any
problems or would like further assistance then please do not hesitate to contact
us.
Why is the text too small to read?
This problem is to do with the settings on your browser. If you click
on the 'view' option at the top of your browser and then select 'text size' and
then 'medium' you should find that the copy is now a good size to read.
